In 2019, the Bùi Trọng Chương Scholarship
Fund (BTCSF) received a record donation compared to previous years: USD 3,050, CAD 800, and VND 280 million (total equivalent
to USD 15,750). Besides regular donations from donors in North America and 3 members
of BTCSF management committee in Vietnam (Messrs. Lê Nhựt Tân, Trần Hữu Phúc Tiến, and
Ms. Phùng Thị Thu Thủy, whose VND 50 million contributions were used directly
for scholarship awards in 2019), BTCSF also received two donations totalling VND
230 million through the network of Mr. and Mrs. Lê Nhựt Tân and Nguyễn
Thị Tranh.
BCTSF increased the number of
awards from 6 in the academic year 2018-19 to 15 (14 scholarships and 1 award)
in 2019-20 (see more details in Recipient). Mr. Trần Hữu
Phúc Tiến’s company Vietnam Centrepoint
continued to provide 15 foreign language
bursaries (VND 7.5 million each) to 15 Bùi Trọng Chương scholarship and award recipients
in 2019-20.
(2) USD 3,530 from the USD operating
account, USD 600 (= CAD 800), and USD 16,156.07 (= VND 374 million) from the VND
operating account bring the new investment total to USD 20,286.07 in 2019.
