With the strong support of many donors
and Executive Committee members, the Bùi Trọng Chương Scholarship Fund (BTCSF) has
increased the number of scholarship awards from 6 in 2018-19 to 14 in 2019-20.
Of the 14 scholarships, 11 have the value of 10 million VND each; 1 given to a student specialized in mathematics, 12 million VND (as instructed by the benefactor); and 2 others, 5
million VND each. 3 Bùi Trọng Chương scholarship recipients in 2018-19 continue
receiving 10-million-VND scholarships in 2019-20.
Mr. Trần Hữu Phúc Tiến (BTCSF
Executive Committee member and Director of Vietnam Centrepoint) has also
provided additional awards to all the recipients as supplements to Bùi Trọng
Chương scholarships. Specifically, Vietnam Centrepoint gives bursaries to study
foreign languages (worth 7.5 million VND each). Centrepoint’s bursaries have
raised the amount received by each student ranging from 12.5 million VND to 19.5 million
VND.
The BTC scholarship award ceremony
was held on 26 August 2019 at the Lê Hồng Phong High School for the Gifted. In
attendance were Vice Principal Trương Thị Lệ Hà; members of BTCSF Executive Committee
and scholarship candidate interviewers (Mssr.Lương Văn Hy, Trần Hữu Phúc Tiến,
Lê Nhựt Tân, and Ms. Nguyễn Thị Tranh), and invited guests (Ms. Nguyễn Văn Kim –
Nguyễn Kim Conglomerate, Mr. Hồ Thanh Phong – President of Hồng Bàng
International University and a Petrus Ký-Lê Hồng Phong alumnus, Mr. Mai Xuân
Tùng – 1970-77 Petrus Ký-Lê Hồng Phong alumnus), as well as many parents
of scholarship recipients. At this ceremony, Ms. Nguyễn Văn
Kim handed to the BTCSF 200 million VND for scholarship awards in future years.

achievements and Aspirations
1. Bùi Khánh Vĩnh (Grade 12,
specialized in Mathematics)
Bùi
Khánh Vĩnh achieved a GPA of 9.8 (out of 10) in grade 11. While in grade 11, he
also got the second prize in mathematics in the national high school
competition in which most competitors were grade-12 students. He plans to
continue studying mathematics after high school.
2. Hà Tâm Như (Grade 12, Mathematics, English, and Literature stream)
Hà Tâm Như achieved a GPA of 9.2 in
2018-19. She was ranked among the top 3 students in her class. She excels in
literature and mathematics.
Hà Tâm Như has
a passion for music. She has received the fourth prize in a student music
competition in Hồ Chí Minh City, and an honorary mention in a school music
competition. She hopes to pursue a career in the performing arts.
3. Trần Vân
Anh (Graded 12, specialized in Chemistry)
Trần
Vân Anh got a GPA of 9.1 in the academic year 2018-19. She hopes to become a
chemical engineer.

Dương Tân Nhi
achieved a GPA of 9.3 in grade 11. While in grade 10 and 11, she got the Silver
and Bronze Medals in Geography in a competition for high school students in the
southern part of Vietnam. She has also received the first prize in geography in
a high school competition in Hồ Chí Minh City. She loves studying geography,
Chinese, and hopes to study Korean and Japanese in addition. She plans to study
tourism and business management in university.

12, specialized in Chinese and Japanese languages)

Minh had a GPA of 8.0 in the academic year 2018-19. She has loved to study
Japanese since grade 6. She hopes to study architecture in university.

12, Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry stream)

technology and graphic design after high school.

Long excels in English and French. He had a GPA of 8.4 in 2018-19. He hopes to
become a psychiatrist.

mathematics and biology, Lâm Thảo Như got a GPA of 9.1 in 2018-19. She hopes to
study medicine and to become a physician.

The Bùi Trọng Chương Scholarship Fund
also gives Nguyễn Minh Phương (Grade 12,
specialized in Chemistry) an award of 100 USD and a foreign-language
dictionary. She also receives a foreign language bursary from Vietnam
Centrepoint. Minh Phương has received the second prize in chemistry in a
national high school competition, as well as the Gold Medal in Chemistry in the
April Olympics for high school students in the southern half of Vietnam. Minh
Phương hopes to pursue university education in the United States. BTCSF gives
an award to Minh Phương instead of a scholarship because she receives the Odon
Vallet scholarship (10.5 million VND) in the academic year 2019-20 and because
her family circumstances are better than those of the other 14 scholarship
recipients.
