In 2017, the Bùi Trọng Chương
scholarship fund received two donations of 100 million VND each to the
endowment, 100 million VND (equivalent to 4,438.53 USD) from Mr. Dương Xuân
Giao and Mrs. Tam Quan Thiên Trang, and 100 million VND (equivalent to 4,409
USD) from Mr. Lê Nhựt Tân. These 2 donations are the biggest gifts to the
scholarship endowment fund since its establishment in June 2013.
Two members of the Scholarship Fund
Executive Committee (Mssrs. Trần Hữu Phúc Tiến and Lương Văn Hy) also
contributed 18 million VND on 14 August 2017, which, together with 12 million
VND disbursed from the endowment investment income, enabled us to award 3
scholarships (at 10 million each) in 2017-18. These contributions, used
directly for scholarship awards, continued the pattern in the 2016-17 academic
year.
(2) 800 CAD = 608 USD. This amount,
together with 2,350 USD from the USD account and 8,847.53 USD (converted from
200 million VND), brings the total new investment in 2017 to 11,805.53 USD.
