In December 2015, Canada Revenue Agency
(CRA) allowed the Bùi Trọng Chương Scholarship Fund to issue charity donation
receipts for donors’ income tax purposes. These receipts are valid in both
Canada and the USA. However, for donors filing US income tax returns, these
receipts can be applied only towards their incomes from Canadian sources and not towards their
incomes from US sources. We hope to receive assistance from friends in the US
to explore the option of a “friend of Canadian charity” in the US, so that
donation receipts can be applied towards donors’ incomes from US sources.
In October 2015, we made two amendments
in our bylaw in order to obtain CRA approval of our request to issue charity donation

The Board of Directors of the
Scholarship Fund has also had some changes in membership. For health reasons,
Mr. Nguyễn Khắc Phụng (Petrus Ký 56-63) has resigned as a member of the Board
of Directors, but still continues as an advisor. Effective in the last quarter
of 2014, Mr. Võ Anh Dũng (Petrus Ký 66-72) has served as Vice Chair of External
Affairs and the main representative of the Scholarship Fund in Vietnam. Mr.
Trần Hữu Phúc Tiến (Petrus Ký-LHP 73-80) has replaced Mr. Nguyễn Khắc Phụng on
the Board of Directors, effective July 2016, and also served as a representative of the Scholarship Fund in Vietnam. Petrus Ký highschool alumni Lâm
Vĩnh Thế (Petrus Ký 53-60), Nghiêm Phú Phúc (Petrus Ký 53-60), and Lương Văn Hy
(Petrus Ký 68-71) continue serving on the Board of Directors of the Bùi Trọng
Chương Scholarship Fund.
